Drywall Texture Matching in Utah

Invisible repairs start with a perfect texture match. We replicate any wall finish — knockdown, orange peel, smooth, skip trowel, and more — so your patch disappears completely.

Why Texture Matching Makes or Breaks a Drywall Repair

A drywall patch that's structurally solid but visually mismatched is a failed repair. The patch might be invisible when you're looking straight at it — but once light hits the wall at an angle, a different texture sticks out like a sore thumb. That's why every repair we do includes precision texture matching as a core part of the process, not an add-on.

Utah homes feature a wide variety of wall and ceiling textures, from the heavy knockdown common in 1990s and 2000s construction to smooth, modern finishes in newer builds and custom homes. We've worked in thousands of homes across Utah County and Salt Lake County and have matched virtually every texture you'll encounter — including unusual custom finishes, hand-applied plaster effects, and legacy acoustic ceilings.

Our process begins before we touch the wall: we evaluate the existing texture, mix the right compound consistency, and test our application technique on cardboard first if needed. Only when we're satisfied the match is right do we apply it to your wall. The repair is then painted to blend completely into the surrounding surface.

Textures We Match

From the most common Utah wall finishes to unusual custom textures, we replicate any surface exactly.

Knockdown Texture

The most common texture in Utah homes. We replicate the irregular, flattened peaks of knockdown by spraying and manually knocking down the compound before it fully dries.

Orange Peel Texture

Named for its resemblance to orange skin, this light spray texture is common in newer construction. We match the dot size and density precisely using a hopper gun or spray can.

Smooth Finish

Smooth walls require the most skill to match. Multiple compound coats, careful sanding, and precise feathering ensure the repair disappears completely.

Skip Trowel

An irregular, hand-applied texture with flat patches at varying depths. We hand-apply compound using a trowel to replicate the original application pattern.

Popcorn / Acoustic

Ceiling popcorn texture can be spray-matched or hand-applied depending on the original product. We remove and replace damaged popcorn sections seamlessly.

Sand Texture

A fine, gritty texture common in older Utah homes. We mix silica sand into the compound or use a roller to replicate the subtle grain of the original finish.
