What type of drywall should be used in a basement?

For interior basement partitions between rooms and around utility areas, standard 1/2" drywall is fine. For walls directly against the concrete foundation or within a few feet of exterior grade, we use moisture-resistant (green or purple board) as a precaution, and bathrooms in basements get cement board or purple board behind tile.

Do you do the ceiling drywall in basements as well?

Yes — basement ceiling drywall is included in our installation. Basement ceilings often have mechanical systems running across them (HVAC ducts, plumbing, electrical), requiring precise cuts and soffits to conceal them, and we handle all of these details as part of the scope.

Do I need permits for basement drywall installation?
